My Wedding, 40 Years Ago Today

Not to be misleading, I was married to John 40 years ago , January 25, 1969. I did not, however, have a 40 year marriage. We were divorced long ago, and then he passed away in 1992. Still, it was a lovely day when it happened, and still, he is one of Anna Leigh’s grandfathers. I thought some day she and her mom (my daughter) might like some nice pictures of him when he was happy. The 40 year anniversary coincided with me finally finding the old pictures, and it seemed like as good a time as any to fix them up. The late John Joseph Carroll was a Patrolman for the Oakland, California Police Department. Two out of three of his best men were Oakland, California Police officers, and many of the guests were policemen and their wives

Left to right on the police officers, were the late John Joseph Carroll, a patrolman and my groom; Sgt. Dan Murray; and Dick Doporto. I do not know how long the latter two stayed with the Oakland, California Police Department.

Earl L.C. SURBER Proud of His Home Owned Gas Station, Colorado, or Possibly Julian, California 1940s

(gasstationownedbyearl&margiesurberqaainit)(scann121407) This gas station was presumedly owned by Earl L. C. SURBER and his wife Margaret or Margie Materson SURBER. I’m guessing this was in Colorado, after WWII. Can someone tell me more exactly the year and the place? Was it Colorado Springs or Victor, Colorado, or where? A nephew of his has said November of 2011 that it may have been Julian, California.

He looks so proud of their new place.
